6 injured in Baitadi bus accident

BAITADI: At least six persons were injured when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Patan Municipality-7 in Baitadi on Sunday.

Among to the injured, Bhojraj Joshi (60) of Baitadi and Chandra Dhami (28) of Api Municiaplity of Darchula sustained critical injuries, DSP Mohan Prasad Pokharel of the District Police Office, Baitadi informed.

Both of them were rushed to Kailali for treatment, DSP Pokharel added.

Police said that the incident occurred when the bus (Na 5 Kha 4565) heading towards Darchula from Mahendranagar skidded off the road and fell 30 meters down at around 3:45 am.

"The incident might have occurred after the driver dozed off at the steering wheel," DSP Pokharel said.

There were 17 persons on board the bus when the incident took place.

The passengers with minor injuries are being treated at a local hospital.

Police said that they have detained bus driver Bharat Bhatta (32) of Jhalari Pipaladi Municipality of Kanchanpur for investigation.
