600 families to get land ownership certificate after four decades
Earlier, disputes among the local people had caused obstruction in distribution of documents
Kavre, March 6
As many as 600 families of Bhumlutar and Phalate VDCs are most likely to obtain their land ownership certificates by mid-April, after four decades of tussles, in Kavre.
According to Moti Lal Lama of Bhumlutar, all those households were deprived of their lands due to the lack of the documents. “We have been much elated with the initiative taken by District Court Kavre with regard our plight after four decades,” said locals.
With the growing disputes, then Pipaltar VDC was split into Bhumlutar and Phalate VDCs in 1975.
As a result, the residence area and hundreds of ropani of fertile land had been without ownership certificates. “The survey team had returned without surveying the land due to disputes among residents of the VDCs over land ownership.
Local and former state minister of labour Govinda Upreti said the survey team failed to conduct proper survey of the land due to the disputes among leaders of the two VDCs.
Grain-saving campaign was launched at Pipaltar VDC fearing famine.
The locals had then seized the field book from the survey team, claiming ownership of the cultivable land, said Upreti.
Meanwhile, Magnu Dutta, chief of District Survey Office, Kavre, said that office staffers were working relentlessly to distribute land ownership certificates within mid-April.
The team has been collecting applications, conducting field study, preparing field books and preparing land ownership certificates “More than 600 families have dropped their applications for the certificate,” said Dutta.
According to sources, late Shiva Raj Kharel and late Khadga Raj Kharel of Phalate, late Pashupati Nath Upreti and Govinda Upreti had a tussle for more than a decade.
The locals had proceeded for the land ownership certificate with coordination of the former state minister of labour.
Hence, the office has been preparing to distribute the certificate soon, accordingly. Of them, as many as 529 families have been residing at Bhumlutar and 303 families at Phalate VDC.
