630 kg marijuana seized from Parsa as smugglers flee

KATHMANDU: Police seized around 630 kg marijuana from a forest near the Indo-Nepal border in Nirmalbasti of Parsa district on Saturday night.

A group of suspected smugglers, however, managed to flee, police said.

The contraband weed was left by the smugglers in the jungle in Motibasti, Nirmalbasti, when they saw a Nepal Army team running after them, police added.

After the army team informed about the incident, a police team deployed from the Pokhari Area Police Post had recovered the marijuana.

Police said they are looking for the absconding suspects and further investigation is underway.
