KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 23

As of today, the Election Commission has completed printing 70 per cent ballot papers under the proportional and first-past-the-post election, including 40 percent ballot papers under the FPTP elections.

Parliamentary and Provincial Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20.

According to the Election Commission's bulletin, the polls panel has completed printing 16,750,000 ballot papers under the FPTP elections, including 8,057,500 ballot papers for Provincial Assembly elections.

The EC has completed printing almost 40 million ballot papers under the PR elections.

There are 17,985,070 voters for the upcoming elections.

The EC needs to print almost 80 million ballot papers. Each voter will cast four votes - two under PR votes and two FPTP votes - in the November 20 elections.

The EC has already transported PR ballot papers to 68 districts, which means the polls panel now needs to transport PR ballot papers to only nine districts.

Of the ballot papers that have been transported to the districts, 19,313,000 ballot papers are for the HoR elections and 19,617,000 ballot papers are for the provincial elections.

According to Assistant Spokesperson for the EC Surya Prasad Aryal, the EC plans to complete printing the remaining FPTP ballot papers by November 3.

The polls panel will complete transporting ballot papers to all districts by November 8.

The Election Commission has given priority to dispatching ballot papers to remote districts first and easily accessible districts later. Aryal said the printing and transporting of ballot papers were moving ahead as per plan and all these processes would be completed on schedule.
