700 blankets meant for quake survivors left undistributed in Lamjung

LAMJUNG: As many as 700 blankets brought by the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee to distribute in winter season for earthquake survivors are still stored in Beshishahar, the district headquarters.

The blankets are stored in the district office of the Nepal Red Cross Society while the earthquake survivors in the district are living under tents in this chilling cold.

Mohan Akela, Chief District Officer, informed that the responsibility to distribute the blankets was given to the concerned Village Development Committee (VDC) secretaries. However, delay in the demand of blankets by the VDC secretaries caused the problem, he argued.

CDO Akela further said they have planned to distribute the blankets to single women, disabled people and new mothers, those who were badly affected by the massive earthquake.
