75 per cent work on Nyadi power project completed

Seventy-five per cent work of the under-construction Nyadi Hydro Power Project (30 megawatt) in Nyadikhola River of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-6, has been completed in Lamjung.

Nyadi Hydro Power Project Chief Executive Officer Uttam Amatya said the foundation of the dam area had been dug.

According to Amatya, cementing of 75 per cent of the work on the 84-kilometre long main tunnel had been completed. The civil structure of the power house has also been completed. Work on installing electro-mechanical equipment has now started. The hydro power is set to generate power within seven months.

The generated power will be evacuated to Khudi Substation of the 220 KV Marsyangdi Corridor Transmission Line. China’s Chachiyang Hydro Power Construction and Installation Company was awarded the contract for construction of the hydro power.

The project is estimated to cost Rs 6 billion. Six banks led by Everest Bank have provided loan to the hydro power project.
