BHOJPUR: Police arrested eight absconding persons for allegedly beating a youth to death in Khairang VDC-4 of Bhojpur district on Tuesday.

According to the Bhojpur District Police Office (DPO), the suspects have been identified as Hemanta Rai and Maniram Rai of Locals of Homtang-3 Rajib Rai, Prakash Rai, Rajan Rai, Ramesh Rai and Pratap Rai (aka Pratu) of Homtang-4 and Tara Kumar Rai of Khairang-4.

Police said that they were arrested for beating Birendra Rai (27) of Khairang-5 to death on May 19 at a wedding ceremony of Dhanajit Rai.

Incapacitated in the incident, Birendra was rushed to the Dharan-BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences where he breathed his last during the course of treatment, police informed.

Raj Kumar Rai, who was also injured in the incident, is being treated at the BPKIHS.

Police said that the suspects have been kept at the DPO for further investigation.
