8 Maoists killed

Eight terrorists were killed in latest action by security forces on Tuesday. According to the defence ministry, five terrorists were killed by security forces during a clash with armed Maoist terrorists in course of search operations in the Dhamilikuwa area of Lamjung district.

Among those killed were so-called area committee member of the terrorist group Maite Tamang "Bishal" and terrorists Sridhar Neupane "Sriram", Subas Pandit "Saugat", "Deep" and "Arpan". The security forces have seized weapons, explosive substances and socket bombs from the site of the clash.

A terrorist named Bishnu Prasad Bhatta was killed in retaliation by security forces when they came under socket bomb attack from the terrorists in the course of a search operation in the Kharimaidi area of Dhading district on May l9.

The deceased is learnt to be the chairman of the Maoist revolutionary students organisation of the district and was involved in terrorist and destructive activities in various locations in the district in the past.

One terrorist died in action by security forces while countering an assault by the terrorists on a patrol on Monday at Ghorahi Ilaka of Dang district, the ministry has stated.

Likewise, one terrorist died and one was arrested in an encounter with the security forces at Shankarpur Soltee of Sarlahi district on Saturday.

The security forces have seized ten guns, explosives and socket bombs from the scene. A so-called deputy chief of the terrorist gang of Dolakha district surrendered to the district administration office on May 16, it is learnt.
