NEPALGUNJ, MARCH 19

In the second phase of the inoculation campaign against coronavirus, over 80 per cent of the target population has received vaccines in Banke.

The latest phase was meant to vaccinate 25,789 senior citizens in the district. According to District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre's corona focal person Tej Ali, 20,786 persons have received anti-COVID jabs.

"Apparently, not all people above 65 years of age have received the shots. But looking at the percentage of those who have received COVID vaccines, we must consider that the campaign has become satisfactory," said Oli.

"A total of 30,619 persons have received COVID-19 vaccines in the district so far," he added.

Further Oli informed that the vaccines were administered from 81 health posts in different local levels. "Of all, Baijanath Rural Municipality had the highest uptake of the jabs in the second phase, at around 92 per cent," he said.

Compared to Baijanath, just over 65 per cent of the elderly citizens got vaccinated in Duduwa. According to Oli, the low uptake of the vaccine might have something to do with false rumours.
