KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 22

As many as 881 lawmakers will vote in polls slated for March 9 and 17 to elect the new president and vice-president, respectively.

As many as 331 lawmakers of the Federal Parliament and 550 members of provincial assemblies will vote in the election.

The Election Commission released the list of voters for the presidential election today. Although there are 334 lawmakers in the Federal Parliament, Chitwan-2 seat fell vacant after Rabi Lamichhane's election was invalidated by the Supreme Court, suspended lawmaker Tek Bahadur Gurung was not included in the electoral roll, and the name of Arun Kumar Chaudhary of Nagrik Unmukti Party was not included in the electoral roll as he was arrested after absconding in a case of arson in which he was convicted.

Shaligram Paudel, EC spokesperson, said the voter-list for the presidential election was released today. Complaints against voters can be filed till tomorrow. The EC is scheduled to publish the final voter list on February 24.

Candidates can file their nomination papers on February 25. The list of contestants will be published on February 25, complaints against them can be filed on February 26, the EC will look into complaints on February 26 and 27, candidates can withdraw their names on February 28, and the final list of candidates will be published on February 28.
