BAJURA: As many as 95 settlements in Bajura district are at high risk of natural disasters.

The District Disaster Relief Committee (DDRC), Bajura has identified the settlements that are at risk and has made the decision to send the list to the centre, informed Chief District Officer, Chet Raj Baral.

According to DDRC, Triveni Municipality has the highest number of settlements at high risk followed by Badimalika Municipality in the district. The Committee also identified various settlements in Budhiganga Municipality, Budhinanda Municipality, Chhedadaha Rural Municipality, Gaumaul Rural Municipality, and Himali Rural Municipality at risk of disasters.

After the meeting held on Wednesday in the district, DDRC has recommended to relocate the identified high-risk settlements to safer locations and to integrate the scattered low-risk settlements.

According to DDRC member Krishna Adhikari, the Committee has requested the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction for the relocation and management of the high-risk settlements.
