Fascinating legends are associated with its name. In Gurung language, 'Tangting' translates to 'joyful village,' symbolising the happiness derived from the shimmering mountains and the amiable farasila villagers.

Another legend suggests that 'Ton' signifies 'boar,' and 'Nee' means 'fighter' in Gurung language. In ancient times, a forest in the current village location witnessed wild boars engaging in fights. Consequently, the spot where the boar battles took place earned the name 'Toni', later evolving into 'Tangting'.

Facilities in Tangting include welldeveloped roads, schools, water supply, electricity, telephone services, internet connectivity, hotels, and homestays. The village boasts a serene rural lifestyle where villagers engage in activities such as animal husbandry, agriculture, foreign employment, and tourism.

Observing the scenes of farming, tending to cattle, goats, and chickens, along with witnessing traditional weaving practices of radipakhi, dokonamlo, and bhakari, offers a rich cultural experience.

Moreover, Tangting serves as a valuable study ground for social development, hydropower, river management, forests, and wildlife conservation.
