LAMJUNG: Police in Lamjung district on Saturday reportedly arrested an absconding man involved in robbery about nine years ago.

The arrested has been identified as 36-year-old Mangal Bahadur Gurung of Jagat area in Marsyangdi Rural Municipalty-4 in the district.

According to Police Constable Dipak Giri at the case department of Lamjung District Police Office (DPO), Gurung had absconded after indulging in a robbery in 2009. The Manang DPO has also registered cases against nine suspects including Gurung, Giri added.

Acting on tip-off, a team of security personnel arrested Gurung from his residence, on Saturday, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Padam Bahadur Bista at Lamjung DPO. He said Gurung will be imprisonable for six years and will be charged a fine of Rs 1,945,200 for breaking the law.

The law enforcers have intensified the search operations for absconding criminals, police informed.
