ACAP campaign to control wildlife poaching

MUSTANG: The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Lomanthang, has launched a campaign to control poaching of wildlife in the area.

Cases of wildlife poaching have reportedly gone up in the area, with six villages in the upper Mustang linked with the road network.

Under the first phase of the campaign, the ACAP management committee organised an interaction programme among committee office bearers, local social workers, security forces and Custom Office representatives in these village with a view of creating public awareness on the increasing trend of wildlife poaching , ACAP Lomanthang Chief Santosh Sherchan said.

Locals' awareness can play a significant role in controlling wildlife poaching, he added.
