BHOJPUR: A child died and another sustained injuries after they fell into a pit in Dharmadev Municipality-9 of Sankhuwasabha district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Binita Katwal (6) and injured as her brother Bibek Katwal (4), daughter and son of local Jaganath Katwal.

According to police, the incident occurred when Binita and Bibek accidentally fell into a water-filled pit at a toilet construction site near their house, while playing at 3:00 pm yesterday, injuring both.

The sister and brother duo were rushed to a local health post in Aakhibhui, where Binita breathed her last during the course of treatment, informed Provincial Police Office, Biratnagar.

Meanwhile, critically injured Bibek was later referred to the Dharan-based Ghopa Hospital for intensive treatment, informed Area Police Office, Chainpur.
