KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 10
Kalpana Acharya, Editor-in-Chief of Health TV Online, has been honored with an international award for her outstanding reporting on the UN High-Level Meeting (UNGA HLM) on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
The award was presented by the Global AMR Media Alliance during its fourth Global Media Forum organized virtually on Thursday. Among 413 applicants from 43 countries, Acharya was the only journalist recognized for her specific coverage of the UN's HLM on AMR.
The AMR Media Awards, launched this year, invited submissions from across six WHO regions, with winners selected in regional and global categories. Acharya's coverage of seven key reports on AMR earned her the top honor, acknowledging her contribution to raising awareness about this critical global health issue.
Receiving the award, Acharya shared that the global recognition of her work has motivated her to continue impactful work in health journalism. Global AMR Media Alliance's founder Shobha Shukla noted that the awards aim to encourage sensitive and responsible AMR reporting.
