Act against hoolganism in the offing

KATHMANDU: State Minister for Home Affairs Rijwan Ansari today said that the government was preparing to bring an Act against hooliganism in a bid to curb the criminal activities. The government lacks laws and resources to control the crime and it is mulling over making them available, he said, addressing a programme at Reporters Club Nepal.

Ansari said that the government has

identified all culprits involved in killing Jamim Shah. “We will nab them all except

a few, who are out of the country, within

a week,” he claimed.

Further, Ansari said that the Unified CPN-Maoist will not be a democratic party until it dismantled Young Communist League and its combatants managed.

Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Sarat Singh Bhandari said that no one has the right to extend the tenure of the Constituent Assembly as per the Interim Constitution. “The new constitution will certainly be promulgated within three months-the stipulated deadline,” he claimed.

Bhandari also said that the Unified CPN-M’s claim for forming government under their leadership was ‘baseless’ as they had failed to run the government earlier. Bhandari warned the Maoists and said, “If the constitution writing process is hindered, the Maoists will cease to exist,” he said.

Likewise, Chitra Bahadur KC, chairman, Rastriya Janamorcha and Gayatri Shah, CA member, Nepali Janata Dal, alleged the three big parties of not being serious towards writing the constitution.
