Rajbiraj, June 27

Locals and kin of Jayakrishna Biraji of Tirahut Rural Municipality, Saptari, who died in the course of treatment after a fatal attack by unidentified persons last night, demonstrated with the Biraji’s body in the district headquarters Rajbiraj today.

While returning home after meeting his friend at night, Biraji was attacked with sharp weapons by an unidentified group at midnight.

Seriously injured, Biraji was then admitted to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital with police help the same night.

The demonstrators sought stern punishment against those involved in the fatal attack and compensation to the family of the deceased.

The demonstrators also gheraoed the District Administration Office for an hour.

On their part, the police said they were due to arrest the assaulters. “As we’ve identified those who attacked him, they will be soon arrested and made public,” said DSP Bhabesh Rimal.
