Action sought against hospital staffers

Khotang, September 30

Leaders of various political parties have sought action against staffers at Khotang District Hospital Khotang for the latter’s involvement in auctioning off various medical equipment of the health facility some months ago.

An-all party meeting held today at the office of the Local Peace Committee demanded that the local administration bring to book the hospital staff involved in auctioning off the equipment.

As many as 112 items, including video x-ray machines, generators, x-ray machines, anaesthesia trolleys and beds, among others, which could be reused after repairs, were sold in the auction for a minimal price.

“Stakeholders have demanded stern and immediate action against the guilty,” said Local Peace Committee Coordinator Shyam Raj Rai.

Chief District Officer of Khotang Chandra Bahadur Karki said the agitating leaders had demanded that investigation into the auction be carried out within two days.

“If we don’t get satisfactory answer and necessary action is not taken against the guilty, we will launch strong agitation,” warned Rai.

The hospital staff had sold various medical equipment for Rs 26,500 without informing the Hospital Development Committee.
