Actress Thapa discontent over rise in VAW cases

RAUTAHAT: Actress and chair of Rekha Foundation, Rekha Thapa on Wednesday denounced government’s failure to book the guilty behind rape and murder of Nirmala Panta.

“State’s inability to book the guilty of rape and murder has supported violence against women,” the actress said while pointing illiteracy and lack of self defense education among girls as main reasons behind the increase in cases of violence against women.

Speaking at a press meet organised in Rautahat as a part of Province 2 government’s social campaign for girls “Beti Bachav Beti Padhav”, the actress requested all to support the campaign as to curb child marriage and end violence against girls.

The actress and her NGO have been assigned to carry out programmes under "Beti Bachav Beti Padhav" campaign of Province 2.
