Admn committe fails to select secys’ names
KATHMANDU: The meeting of the administrative committee established under the Cabinet today failed to select the names of candidates for the appointment of secretaries in different ministries and constitutional bodies. Minister for General administration and member of the committee, Rabindra Shrestha, said that the next cabinet meeting would take the final decision on the issue.
Today's meeting was supposed to select the names for the posts but the long meeting failed to make any headway as parties were divided over the names of the candidates to be appointed. The meeting went on till late evening today.
According to a source at the cabinet, the meeting failed to select the candidates due to the disagreement between the political parties over the names of candidates to be selected for the posts. The source further said that all the parties wanted to appoint those who were near and dear to them.
Earlier, the cabinet meeting had entrusted the administrative committee to select the names for the post of secretaries. The promotion recommendation committee had recommended names of 66 persons for the 22 posts three weeks ago.
