KATHMANDU, APRIL 28

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged the public to remain on high alert, warning of possible thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and rainfall in various parts of the country from Wednesday evening.

Meteorologist Sanjeeb Adhikari said strong winds are likely in Dadeldhura and Doti districts of Sudurpashchim Province; Bardiya, Banke, Dang, and Arghakhanchi in Lumbini Province; Dhanusha and Bara in Madhesh Province; and Morang and adjoining districts in Koshi Province.

According to the Department, the windstorm is expected to commence at around 5:45 pm on Wednesday and persist until 7:45 am on Thursday.

As the westerly system advances eastward, there remains a heightened likelihood of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and hail across several regions.

Citing potential disruptions to livelihoods, agriculture, transportation, and electricity services, the Department has called on the public to adopt necessary precautionary measures.
