Boy dies of dysentery

RAJBIRAJ: Dasaiya Sada, 8, son of Jidai Sada at Marraja-6 of Manraja VDC, died of dysentery on Thursday. Dysentery has spread in Manraja VDC. A relative of the boy said he could not be treated timely due to the lack of medicines at the local sub-health post and the poor economic condition of the boy’s father. — HNS

Panel praised

KATHMANDU: Hailing the decision taken by the High-Level Investigation Commission to quiz the King in connection with killings and suppression of the Jana Andolan II, MPs Bharat Mohan Adhikary and Lilamani Pokhrel urged the government to take action against the King. “I want to congratulate the Rayamajhi Commission, which, by sending a questionnaire to the King, has proved that the King is not above the law,” he said, addressing the House on Friday. — HNS

Anti-polio drive

Kathmandu: The first phase of this year’s nationwide polio vaccination campaign will kick on Saturday. As earlier, two drops of polio vaccine will be administered to each child under five years of age at polio booths on the first day. Health workers will organise house-to-house campaigns the next day to make sure no child is left out. Dr Shyam Raj Upreti, chief of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), said the government has joined hands with local bodies to make the campaign a success. — HNS
