Kathmandu, March 6:

Shan Yiduo, spokesperson of Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, today said the proposed Peace and Friendship Treaty between Nepal and China was not intended against any country but was an important document for strengthening ties between the two countries as well as boosting regional security.

Addressing a programme here today, Yiduo said Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue, during his visit here last week, presented a preliminary draft of the treaty to Nepal

government.

“Both the countries need to sit together, discuss it and make necessary changes before finalising it. We might finalise it during PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s upcoming China visit,” he added.

He said that Prime Minister Dahal and Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav would visit China soon, though the dates are yet to be fixed.

Yiduo predicted that the visit would become fruitful. “There has also been a proposal to make dry-port at Tatopani customs point,” he added.
