Agitation to continue till demands met: TMDP Chair
BIRGUNJ: Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur said that the ongoing agitation in Tarai would not be halted until the government addressed the demands of the Madhes-based parties.
He made the statement during a press conference ogranised at the Hotel Makalu in Birgunj on Wednesday morning.
Saying that the United Democratic Madhesi Front would made public more protest programmes from the next meeting, Thakur said that the government was trying to defame the ongoing agitation by portraying it as anti-nationalist.
He further made it clear that they were not against the dialogue and accused the major parties of staging merely a drama in the name of talks.
The TMDP Chairman said that the blockade at the border check points would not be lifted until the government brought clear view regarding demarcation of federal boundaries.
Moreover, Thakur accused the government of publicising wrong information against India at the international level.
TMDP Central Vice-Chairman Brijesh Chandara Lal and General Secretary and former lawmaker Jitendra Sonal among other leaders were present in the press conference.
