Agitators call King’s address a ploy

Pokhara, April 21:

A wave of disappointment griped different parts of the country after King’s address to the nation. Immediately after the address, protest programmes were held in different districts stating the address failed to address the present problem .

The district level leaders and cadres said that the royal address is a ploy and the ongoing pro-democracy movement should continue more vigorously.

The youths and students staged protest programmess in Pokhara’s Mahendrapul, opposite the Prithvi Narayan Campus, New Road, by burning tyres. The participants in the demonstration asked the leaders not to make any agreement with the King claiming that the pro-democracy movement is yet to achieve its goal. UML district secretary Som Nath Pyasi said the movement will continue.

In Banepa, thousands of youths and students staged a demonstration.

Defying the curfew imposed by the local administration, rallies were held in Butwal and Mahendranagar against the royal address.. The youths burnt tyres on the road. A torch rally was held in Rupandehi’s Butwal, Jogakoti and Madhauliya. Protest rallies are also heldd in Nepalgunj, Narayangarh, Hetaunda, Syangja, Biratnagar, Jhapa, Pyuthan, Birgunj and Dhading.
