KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 20

A six-point agreement has been signed between the government, contractor, and relevant authorities to accelerate the upgrade and expansion of the Nagdhunga-Naubise-Malekhu-Mugling road.

An all-party meeting convened at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport on Friday led to the agreement.

The widening and upgrading of the 94.7-km road, a crucial trade and transit route linking the Kathmandu Valley with the Terai region, had been delayed due to various challenges.

In response, the stakeholders agreed to expedite the road project, which is funded by the World Bank.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, took the initiative to organize the meeting in an effort to address the problems and obstacles hindering the project.

Attendees included Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari, House of Representatives member Rajendra Pandey, former Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Shalikram Jammakattel, Bagmati Province Minister Madhu Kumar Shrestha, and local representatives from the project area.
