Agro tools worth Rs 2.2mln distributed to Dhankuta quake-stricken farmers

DHANKUTA: Modern agricultural equipment worth Rs 2,258,000 have been distributed to the quake-hit farmers in Dhankuta district recently to boost their agricultural productions.

After being referred by the Agricultural Development Ministry, the farmers were provided with altogether 146 agricultural equipment including ploughing mini tiller, threshing machine, and corn sheller machines with a concession of 90 per cent on the selling price, according to the Dhankuta District Agricultural Development Office (DADO) Chief Bharat Bidari.

An orientation course about the application of the tools was also organised for the farmers.

Meanwhile, 42 plastic pond materials, 244 harvesting bags for storing seeds, 10 drop irrigation materials were also distributed in the rural areas of the district, informed a technical staffer Surya Sapkota at the DADO .

As per the National Reconstruction Authority's data, there is a total of 2,796 households affected by the earthquake in the district.
