RAUTAHAT, JULY 17

Aam Janata Party staged a rally in Rautahat district headquarters Gaur today, seeking action against Upendra Yadav and other perpetrators of the infamous Gaur massacre.

The rally taken out under the leadership of the party's district Chairperson Dharmendra Patel chanted slogans asking for arrest and action against Yadav and others who were involved in lynching innocent people.

The party also sought compensation and justice to the victims. After taking a round of the town, the rally reached the district administration, where Gaur Massacre Victim Struggle Committee Coordinator Rup Sagar Devi submitted a memorandum to Administrative Officer Niraj Shrivastav seeking action against the guilty.

Around 17 years ago, cadres of the then Madhesi Janadhikar Forum led by Upendra Yadav had attacked and murdered in cold blood 27 people in a clash with supporters of the CPN-Maoist party while the latter was preparing to hold a mass gathering in the open ground of Gaur Rice Mills in the afternoon.

The party has further warned that it will be compelled to intensify its protest programmes unless action was taken against the perpetrators of the cold-blooded mass murders.
