Alleged 'hundi' operator held with Rs 10.15 million from Birgunj

BIRGUNJ: Police said an alleged 'hundi' operator has been arrested in possession of Rs 10.15 million from Birgunj on Sunday.

A police team deployed from the Parsa District Police Office apprehended Rahul Keshari from Ranighat in the metropolis. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Rewati Dhakal, Keshari was held with an undeclared sum of Rs 10.15 million.

Likewise, police arrested an Indian national while trying to smuggle fake Indian currency of face value INRs 801,200 to Nepal, from Inaruwa today.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Inaruwa arrested Abhijit Kumar Sarraf. Later, he was made public at the DPO today itself.

It has been learned that Sarraf was travelling to Birgunj from Raxaul of India on a motorbike before he was intercepted by police during a routine security check at Rajatjayanti Chok in Birgunj.

Police recovered fake currency hidden inside the fuel tank of the two-wheeler.

SP Dhakal said, police seized 719,000 notes of INRs 500 denomination and 22,000 notes of INRs 2,000 denomination and 60,200 notes of INRs 200 denomination.

Meanwhile, people are preparing to send the arrested duo to Department of Revenue Investigation for further investigation and action.
