Alleged Tikapur carnage conspirator Resham Chaudhary starts hunger strike inside prison

DHANGADHI: The Tikapur carnage accused Resham Lal Chaudhary, along with his aides, has started a hunger strike inside the District Prison, Kailali on Sunday.

26 persons sat in the hunger strike demanding withdrawal of charges against them, handover of victory certificate to the elected member of Parliament Chaudhary, along with administration of oath to Chaudhary.

Although the court had sent 25 persons to judicial custody, Chaudhary who was on the run was recently detained after he surrendered to Kailali District Court on February 26, 2018.

A single bench of Justice Parshu Ram Bhattarai had issued the order to this effect.

According to the court’s Registrar Indra Bahadur Kathayat, the court ordered judicial custody to Chaudhary as per the court’s proceedings, chapter number 118.

Following the court’s order, police arrested the elected Member of Parliament Chaudhary from court premises and placed him on second trial on February 28, 2018. Moreover, three charges – attempt to murder, murder and robbery – have been filed against Chaudhary.
