HETAUDA, NOVEMBER 8
Nepali Congress Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat has cited mixed election system as the reason for an electoral alliance now.
"Under the existing system whereby we have both firstpast-the-post and proportional election systems, it's difficult for a single political party to secure a majority, which is why we had to opt for an alliance with a view to easing the government-formation process after the poll," said the NC leader, speaking at a press conference organised by Press Union, Makawanpur, in Hetauda this morning.
"The alliance is crucial not only to win the elections, but also to form a majority government led by our party in the post-election scenario," Mahat said, claiming that the alliance between his party and other parties would win the election and only such a victory of the alliance would ensure protection of the constitution and take the country on the constitutional path.
