KATHMANDU, MAY 17

The "Seven Summit Alpine Food Festival 2024" is set to take place for the first time in Alaska, United States, aiming to promote Nepali cuisine on an international stage. The event will be held on the occassion of International Everest Day on May 29.

The festival is scheduled from 11:30 am to 2 pm local time at Mandala Restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska.

Organized through a joint initiative by the Gastronomy Tourism Association of Nepal and Yatragroups.com New York, the event carries the campaign slogan 'Nepali food in seven continents, the desire of all of us'. Attendees will experience a variety of mountain region dishes such as Dhedo, Gundruk, Mo:Mo, Thenduk Rildok, salt tea, and Nepali thali, all of which are staples in the Sherpa community.

Both local and international tourists, alongside climbers heading to Denali, will have the opportunity to sample these dishes, prepared by renowned Virginia-based culinary artist Ram Thapa and acclaimed food guru Sureshchand Basnet.

Event coordinator Suresh Basnet highlighted that this marks the first time tourists in Anchorage, a key hub for Mount Denali climbers, will get to taste such authentic Nepali cuisine. Basnet emphasized that the campaign aims to bring Nepali food to the regions of the highest peaks across the seven continents, starting from Alaska, home to the highest peak in North America.

Proceeds from the event will be dedicated to promoting the rights and interests of Nepali chefs and enhancing the global profile of Nepali cuisine.
