Representatives of various sections of the society have stressed that alternative to hemp cultivation should be looked upon and enforced in order to check the increasing rate of hemp cultivation in the district. Speaking at an interaction on Hemp cultivation control and replacement, organised by the government’s drug control district enforcement committee, Parsa, yesterday, they said farmers in this region should be encouraged to alternative farming so as to divert them from hemp production and various awareness-oriented programmes should also be carried for the family and the society involved in it. Assistance chief district officer Harikrishna Upadhyaya said the society should also take initiatives in checking hemp cultivation.
