Anarchists will be defeated, says Mahara
Dang, February 26:
Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara today said some of the groups in Tarai were trying to invite anarchy in nation rather than resolving the problem through dialogue.
He said that those trying to divide the nation would be isolated by people, warning of action against those who try to deprive Madhesi people of their rights.
Mahara, who came to file his nomination for the CA election from constituency No 3 of Dang, said this addressing a press meet organised by Dang chapter of Revolutionary Journalists’ Association.
On the occasion, Mahara urged all the media to help the government hold the Constituent Assembly election and stand in unison on the issue of nationality.
He said that all the media across the country should be united to preserve nationality. Urging journalists working in the state-run media not to priortise news of Maoists, he said, “Those journalists should first focus on the people’s news.”
Some media in the east have been writing against the seven political parties and the CA election, he said. He warned that the government would be compelled to curb such activities if those media continue to do so.
Mahara said he is committed to implement the Working Journalist Act whether he would remain information minister or not.
Mahara added that there might be only one candidate from the seven party alliance if the situation for holding the polls becomes sensitive. “There may be a single candidate from the seven parties if a sensitive situation appears somewhere. We are discussing on this
issue,” Mahara said.
