KATHMANDU: Annapurna Kathmandu Society is organising Annapurna Marathon as a part of Annapurna Century Festival, 2019/20 scheduled for June 3.

The Annapurna Century Festival that aims to promote tourism in the Annapurna region is conducting its second festival this year, the marathon being its main event.

The committee is coordinating with Athletics Association in an attempt to engage foreign athletes to make this an international event.

The Marathon will start from Annapurna Base Camp and take a route along Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Bagar, Deurali, Himalaya, Dovan, Sinuwa, Bhanuwa, Chhomrong, Tandapaani, Bhainsikharka and will end at Gandruk. It covers a distance of 42.195 kilometres.

The first, second and third winners will bag the prize of Rs 105,000, Rs 75,000, and Rs 55,000 respectively along with a medal and a certificate.
