KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 11
A total of 246,575 foreign tourists visited the Annapurna Conservation Area between January and October this year.
Of them, 146,968 were visitors from South Asian countries, while 99,607 came from other parts of the world, according to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).
April recorded the highest tourist inflow with 44,763 arrivals, whereas January saw the lowest, with only 9,359 visitors.
It is noteworthy that the total number of foreign visitors in 2024 stood at 244,045, a figure that has already been surpassed within the first ten months of 2025.
According to ACAP Chief Dr. Rabin Kadariya, tourist arrivals increased in all months this year compared to the same period last year, except in May and September.
The Annapurna region, a globally renowned trekking destination, typically experiences its peak tourist season from September to November and from March to May.
Dr. Kadariya added that the number of tourists traveling to popular destinations-including the Muktinath area via surface routes-has also remained high.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek continues to be one of the most sought-after trekking routes for international travelers. ACAP data show that 191,666 foreign tourists visited the area in 2023, while the number had plummeted to only 18,836 in 2020, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
