Annapurna trekking route affected

Annapurna Circuit, the world- famous trekking trail, has also suffered due to the quake with the route obstructed at a number of places.

Landslides have occurred and boulders are falling from above on the trekking route. While Manang’s Koto and Chame monasteries have been damaged by the quake, according to Menaka Ghale, a local, the quake has also damaged the building of Himajwati Lower Secondary School in Tilche.

Similarly, the quake has damaged three houses in Tachai and Tilche. The office building of the district post office the Nepali Congress party office, Himalay Hotel and ACAP office have incurred damage. A large number of houses have been damaged at Dharapani VDC, Nache, while three houses in Khotro have also been damaged. Attempts to contact Tal and other places in Manang failed.

Meanwhile, due to lack of electricity in Chame and other places in Manang, attempts to collect details of quake-related damage were not successful. The quake has also inflicted damage to a number of VDCs in the district, including Khangsar and Manang in the upper Manang. The quake has damaged the Besishahar-Chame road. According to Locals, the quake has stranded a large number of tourists on the Annapurna Trekking route.
