Kathmandu, January 8:

The All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) today requested the Office of the Controller of Examinations to set up SLC examination centres in remote areas as well.

“The examination should not be conducted in examination centres that are surrounded by armed security personnel,” Neupane, the ANNISU-R president, said. Neupane said students should be allowed to give exams in an environment free from fear.

Citing insecurity, the OCE had, in the past, established examination centres in district headquarters and urban areas only. He warned that the ANNISU-R will stage a strike during SLC examinations if the government does not pay heed to their request. “The OCE will be to blame for consequences if it ignores our request.”

Neupane called for talks between the Ministry of Education and Sports, OCE and student bodies to meet the demand.
