Anti-Maoist drive questioned

Hetauda, August 3:

The five agitating political parties have asked anti-Maoist groups to stop killing unarmed people “in the name of Maoists”.

In a press statement, they have demanded that the government make public the real cause of the incident that happened in Makawanpur and Dhading districts some days ago.

They have urged the locals to discontinue the killing of unarmed people. District secretaries of CPN-UML, NC-D and NC Krishna Dahal, Michael Ram Chandra Aryal and Narendra Mishra signed the statement along with representatives of other small parties. The parties have urged human rights organisations to find out facts behind the incident and to free abducted people as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, security men held Shankar Adhikari, Krishna B Shrestha, Chen Bahadur Moktan and Buddhi Man Moktan on charges of involvement in Maoist activities, locals said.
