Army, armed police to be mobilised in search of missing ultralight aircraft
POKHARA: As whereabouts of a missing ultralight aircraft are unknown till now, the Pokhara Airport administration has decided to mobilise army and armed police personnel in its search.
Two foreigners – pilot Valerie Putin (50) from Russia and passenger Elizabeth Well (40) from South Africa – were on board the aircraft that had taken off the Airport at around 10:35 am on Thursday.
The craft had lost contact with the Airport around six minutes after taking-off.
Pokhara Airport Chief Deepak Baral said army and armed police personnel would be mobilised on Sunday after three-day search operation involving helicopters and ultralight crafts did not trace whereabouts of the missing aircraft.
Accordingly, letters have been dispatched to Nepal Army and Armed Police Force, he informed.
"We searched for it with other ultralight aircraft today," Baral said, "But, in vain."
Nepal Police personnel were involved in the search operation since Thursday.
The operation is centred around Sarankot and Annapurna Base Camp area of Kaski district.
