Arrest warrant issued for ex-DIG Silwal
Kathmandu, January 2
The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, today wrote to Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, requesting it to arrest former DIG Nawa Raj Silwal and turn him over to MPR, Kathmandu.
Silwal, who is a permanent resident of Lalitpur, was recently elected member of the Parliament from Lalitpur-1 parliamentary constituency on CPN-UML ticket.
A high-level source at Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, confirmed the issuance of arrest warrant against Silwal in connection with the ‘fake performance appraisal report’ he allegedly submitted to the Supreme Court challenging the appointment of Prakash Aryal as inspector general of police.
The source said Silwal was not arrested till late night and MPR, Lalitpur, was searching for him. The source claimed that Silwal was not in Lalitpur today and his whereabouts were not known.
MPR, Kathmandu, had investigated the alleged forgery of Silwal’s performance appraisal report in which he claimed to have secured more marks than his competitors to become the top contender for the post of top cop. Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the concerned bodies to probe who was responsible for tampering with Silwal’s performance appraisal report and initiate legal action against the guilty.
