Mahendranagar, Nov 6:

Nirmala Devi Bhatta, 35, the wife of assistant sub-inspector Nanda Raj Bhatta, was allegedly murdered by her brother-in-law Ram Dutta Bhatta at Mahendranagar-10, Jimuwa, yesterday evening.

Nanda Raj is currently posted at the district police office, Kanchanpur.

Nirmala was working in the fields when Ram Dutta hit her on the head with a sickle, leaving her severely injured, the district police office, Kanchanpur, said. She was rushed to Mahakali Zonal Hospital but died on the way. Ram Dutta is at large, police said.

SP at the Kanchanpur DPO, Ramesh Kharel, said the murderer escaped before a police team reached the village.
