Assault on NSU leader spurs closure of Itahari bazaar

Itahari, April 23:

Students here today shut down bazaars, educational institutions, industrial and commercial houses to protest the manhandling of chairman of the Nepali Congress-D affiliated Nepal Students’ Union Sunsari chapter Bikas KC by ANNISU (R) cadres.

KC was severely beaten by ANNISU (R) cadres while he was on way to the district administration office in Kathmandu yesterday. He fell unconscious due to the beating. He is undergoing treatment in the capital.

NSU local leader Ramesh Pokhrel said that bazaars, educational institutions, industrial and commercial houses were closed to protest the beating. Traffic was also disrupted and burning tyres were placed on the roads from 7:00 am till 10:00 am. KC is also vice-chairman of the Free Students’ Union on Janata Multiple Campus.
