Assembly meet put off for fifth time

Kathmandu, July 1:

The legislative meeting of the Constituent Assembly was postponed again today.

Acting general secretary of the parliament secretariat issued a notice at 2 pm, two hours later the scheduled meeting, about the postponement, as per the decision of chair Kul Bahadur Gurung.

Most of the CA members were present in the assembly but the chair decided to postpone the meeting. The meeting has been rescheduled for 11 am tomorrow.

Demanding incorporation of a provision to guarantee autonomous Madhes in the fifth amendment to the interim constitution, Madhesi CA members have been disrupting the House meeting for the last five days.

In today’s session, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Narendra Bikram Nembang was supposed to table a bill to amend the interim constitution, paving a way for the election of President, vice-president, Prime Minister and CA chairman and vice-chairman.
