KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 19

Gen Z leader Purushotam Yadav has expressed deep concern over the attack on Gen Z youth in Simara, Bara, today.

Speaking with THT, Yadav said, "I express deep outrage and strong condemnation over the inhumane attack carried out by CPN-UML leaders and cadres against Gen Z youth in Simara. The connection between the derogatory remarks made by CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli regarding the Gen Z movement and today's violent incidents cannot be dismissed as a mere coincidence."

According to him, the violence inflicted upon youth who are marching forward with the dream of change-peacefully and constructively-is not just an attack on individuals; it is a grave assault on democratic values and citizens' rights. "Any attempt to silence, threaten, or violently suppress the voices of young people is an open insult to democracy."

He emphasised that the future of our country rests upon its youth. Intimidating, beating, or politically oppressing them is an extremely dangerous conspiracy against the nation's future. "I urge all concerned authorities to take the strongest and most immediate action to prevent such incidents from ever recurring," he said.

He also stressed that regardless of how powerful or high-ranking the perpetrators may be, the law is equal for all. "Therefore, those involved in the Simara incident must be arrested immediately and subjected to strict legal action. Any delay or negligence in this matter is absolutely unacceptable."

He further said, "Only when the police administration and concerned agencies conduct an impartial, factual, and swift investigation-and bring the guilty to justice-will the morale of the youth be strengthened and public trust be upheld. This alone will safeguard our democracy."
