POKHARA: A day after rebuffing Rajiv Gurung alias Deepak Manange’s oath application citing that he should not be administered the lawmakers’ oath “under any condition”, authorities changed voices after the infamous gangster and elected MP paid a visit to the Province Secretariat today.

Following meeting between few lawmakers, Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari and Gurung, state authorities including the speaker who had unanimously decided to deny oath to Gurung now say the issue is not yet clear on legal terms in what has now become an oath-predicament.

According to Adhikari, the committee overseeing the issue will again strike a decision on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Gurung who reached the secretariat premises before the speaker and deputy speaker at 10:30 pm had a busy day-out holding talks with lawmakers and the speaker.

Talking to the media, Gurung said that the speaker had assured him that the Secretariat will take a decision within a day or two.

“It seems reports that have surfaced are inconsistent and deny the truth of the situation, the speaker assured me that he would hold legal consultations and give me a decision soon. I will return to Kathmandu only after taking the oath,” Gurung said.

However, Gurung said he had no plans to knock on the doors of Supreme Court and he will give his lawmaker's post to those who deny him the opportunity to take oath.

When asked whether he would join a party after the oath, Gurung said, “I will think about that but I have no immediate plans to join a party as I earlier served Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Nepali Congress for long.”
