An avalanche swept through Himlung Himal Base Camp in Manang early Sunday, leaving at least 10 expedition staff members missing, according to the Expedition Operators Association Nepal (EOAN).
The missing includes eight support staff from Himalayan Holidays Nepal and two staff from Imagine Nepal Treks, who reportedly lost contact after the avalanche buried tents at the base camp, the EOAN informed.
The EOAN added that most climbers and support personnel from other expedition operators had already moved to lower elevations after weather agencies issued warnings of heavy rain, snowfall and heightened avalanche risks across Nepal's mountain regions.
Search and rescue details had not been released as of Sunday morning, with authorities and expedition companies still gathering information amid severe weather. The incident comes as continuous rainfall triggers floods, landslides and road closures across several districts.
