‘Avoid groupism, factionalism’

Kathmandu June 2

Nepal Communist Party has said groupism and factionalism are dangerous tendencies, which should not be seen in the new party.

The intra-party document signed by co-chairs KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed party leaders and cadres not to engage in groupism and factionalism.

The NCP has been created by merging the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre. Disgruntled leaders, who have not been inducted into the party’s Central Committee, have accused the top leadership of forming the CC under pressure.

The document has also directed leaders and cadres at all levels of the party to maintain transparency and integrity. “We should fulfil the task of strengthening intra-party democracy and discipline. Any kind of groupism and factionalism should be avoided,” the document states.

The document also says that party cadres should be mobilised in favour of the people and the country and a system developed to resolve each and every problem.

“Instead of basking in the party’s success in the elections, we should work for the welfare of the people and the country,” the document states.
