Bhattarai says Oli, Raut are "two sides of the same coin"

JANAKPURDHAM: Former Prime Minister and Naya Shakti Nepal Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai on Sunday said CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Madhes secession advocate CK Raut were "two sides of the same coin."

Speaking with journalists at the Janakpur Airport in Dhanusha district today, Bhattarai said both the leaders held extremist views at polar oppositions and both were responsible for pushing the nation into a further crisis.

"Extremist trends like that of CK Raut have thrived due to the failure to address discontents of the Madhesi people," he explained, "Oli has been just cultivating these trends further."

The former Maoist leader was of the view that a Constitution amendment was a must to address demands of the Madhes region.

"The country will have more complexities if it heads towards polls without addressing the Madhes demands," he said, explaining the polls could not solve the current political crisis.
